Originally founded in 2015 by MyUmbrella LGBT+, a volunteer-led project of Reading Pride, the Trans Day of Remembrance vigil began as a small local gathering to honour lives lost to trans, non-binary, and gender-non-conforming hate. Over time it has grown beyond Reading, with a strong partnership formed with Newbury Pride in 2022 and now with financial backing from TransKind by Beaumont.

Now renamed Trans Day of Remembrance – Berkshire to reflect the broader commitment to inclusivity and regional collaboration within Berkshire area, with the intent to reach out to other Prides and community groups across the county.
